Five essentials you’ll need when doing a real life market

Booked in to do your first ever real life market, but not sure what you’ll need for the day?

From our recommendation of which payment terminal to use, to thoughts about your visual merchandising display, signage and beyond, we’ve put together a handy checklist so you can make sure you’re super organised for it!

1) A CUTE EXTENSION CABLE

Events spaces often have limited plug availability, to a cute extension cable is super important! We both have gorgeous versions from Lola’s Leads, who offer a variety of colours, lengths and plug options. Perfect to keep in your kit wherever you go, just in case you need it!

3) A PLAN FOR YOUR DISPLAY

Rocking up at a market with no idea about how you’re going to layout your stall can be really scary and overwhelming! We defo recommend doing at least one practice run beforehand so you can plan how you’re going to display everything, and buy any props you need! We love this creative example from Studio Saunders.

5) BEAUTIFUL GIFT WRAP

One way you can really set yourself apart from other brands out there is to offer really special personalised gift wrap! Lucy Le lu Lo is a shining example of this! Could you add coloured ribbon, a hand written tag, or stickers?

2) A PAYMENT TERMINAL

We often get asked questions about payment terminals. We’d definitely recommend having one, as it saves customers having to find a cash point, and you having to carry change! We use an iZettle which are relatively cheap, and run through an app on your phone. They are super easy to set up and use.

4) CLEAR SIGNAGE

Make sure you have large and clear signs with your brand name, Instagram handle and website, as well as business cards and postcards, so browsers can find you online in the future if they decide to purchase. We loved Sophia Bharmal’s large sign!
