Salad Days x Liv Purvis Market: Here’s everything you need to know
Get the 15th and 16th April in your diary and meet us at Beckenham Place Mansion.
We couldn’t be more excited to announce that this April we’ll be teaming up with the one and only Liv Purvis to bring you a brand new market concept for one weekend only.
We first met Liv back at the beginning of 2020, when we were two complete novices who had no idea what we were doing. We’d hosted our first ever market in December 2019 which we were quite honestly shookethed had been a hit, and by popular demand had decided to host a second market a few months later in February. We were nervous that the day would go smoothly, and that people would show up to shop. After such a smash hit, we felt like we had high expectations to live up to!
In the hustle and bustle of the morning as we set-up, we checked Instagram to see a stream of new followers, comments and messages on our account, and realised the lovely Liv had shared about the fact she was coming to the event. We couldn’t believe our eyeballs! As an established and respected content creator, writer, small business shopper (and South Londoner!) Liv had been one of our favourite follows for a long time and we admired her so much. I’d read her blog regularly on my lunch break at the office, and we would share her vintage outfits with each other for style inspiration. So to know she was on her way to our own event, and had been kind enough to share it! It felt surreal and magical.
After meeting that first time, we’ve continued to stay on each others’ radar and (in the way that we all do in this weird social media driven world where you feel like you know people really well but actually just watch a hell of a lot of their content) cheerlead each other through DMs and comments. Her positivity and joy for what she does is so uplifting, and it goes without saying that her vintage outfits are always a source of inspiration - those gorgeous dresses! As well as her home. I know I’m not the only one that’s swooned over her new living room makeover - those curvy cabinets! Plus most importantly, Liv has a genuine passion for supporting small independent businesses and often uses her platform to help others discover them too. So when she got in touch a few months back with an idea to run an event together, it just really felt like a concept that made sense and we instantly knew we could create something really exciting together.
Being based in Bromley, Crystal Palace and Streatham Hill, from the get go we had our South London-ness connecting us; we love that Liv celebrates living here and is all about sharing reccos to her favourite places, something that’s really important to us too (it’s exactly why we started hosting events in the first place, we were sick of traveling to East London for cool events!) And with our joint love of shopping for beautiful things, small businesses, and unique vintage finds, we quickly came up with an idea for a market that focused on one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.
And we’ve only gone and bloody made it happen! We’re so proud to say that this April we’ll be hosting a joint market together! The Salad Days x Liv Purvis Market will run over both Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April, at the spectacular Beckenham Place Mansion in Beckenham Place Park. Located slap bang in the middle of where we’re all based, it felt like the perfect location, and the drama of the venue seemed like a fitting backdrop. If you’ve never been before I guarantee your jaw will drop when you get there, it’s a striking Georgian mansion set in acres of lush greenery. Every time I’m there I feel like Kiera Knightly in Pride and Prejudice.
Like all of our markets, the event will feature a highly curated edit of the most incredible small businesses from around the UK who will be selling a variety of products including clothes, jewellery, homeware, art, and more. We’ll have 30 different brands each day, bringing you the most spectacular edit of handmade products to shop all in one place. And because Liv has such an eye for vintage and antique pieces we’re really excited for her to bring a new angle to the market, so you can expect to find real one-of-a-kind vintage gems including incredible vintage fashion you won’t get anywhere else.
And, for the first time ever! Liv herself will be selling a highly curated edit of vintage treasures she’s sourced especially for it! So you’ll be able to buy pieces she’s cherry-picked; your very own piece of her enviable style. We can’t wait to have a browse through her rail, we know she’s going to have found some truly iconic pieces; I’m imagining flowing 70s maxi dresses and cute little knits. She’ll be at the market with her own stall on both Saturday and Sunday.
To make it a full day affair, the venue will have food and drinks covered too. Beckenham Place Mansion has an on-site cafe, The Mansion Café and Bar, which serves yummy treats and a variety of hot and cold drinks all day. In the wider grounds there is also The Homestead Café which serves pizza, pastries, hot and cold drinks, craft beer and ice cream as takeaway. And on a Sunday, Beckenham Place Park Food Market also runs in the grounds with tens of delicious street food vendors.
Me, Liv and Liv will all be there for the whole weekend, to meet, greet and chat to you all. We really can’t wait to see you there.
