Our Small Biz Sample Sale returns for two weekends this August!
That’s right!! Our much-loved Small Business Sample Sale returns!
At this event you'll find amazing discounts, bargains, and one-of-a-kind samples available from a real variety of incredible small businesses. We're taking over Gipsy Hill Brewery's iconic South London taproom for two whole weekends, on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th August, then again on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st August, for four full days of discount shopping, drinking, eating and of course... an incredible market full of amazing and special finds at discounted prices.
On each day you’ll find a different line-up of 30 small businesses (that’s 120 different brands over both weekends) and each brand will be selling a variety of gorgeous handmade and vintage items all with a discount, spanning art, jewellery, ceramics, fashion, bags, scrunchies and more. It will span from almost-perfect seconds, samples of products that didn’t end up going into production and so are completely unique, plus past season stock, and also some new season stock with a discount.
Taking on feedback from the past, we’ve asked traders to make sure every single item has a discount of some kind, and discounts will vary from stall to stall anywhere from 10% off - 60% off. Please note discounts and stock are at the discretion of each trader and we can never guaurantee what they will be.
As well as as our indoor sample sale, you’ll find loads of other things on site too including street food stalls, a bar for craft beer and a coffee truck, and ice cream, so you can spend all day with us.

Which brands will be taking part?
We will share a full list of traders and discounts in the coming weeks.
What discounts will products have?
Discounts are at each brand’s discretion. We’ve asked that every product is discounted in some way but this is out of Salad Days control so please do check with specific traders nearer the time if you want accurate information. Discounts will span anything from 10% - 60% off the RRP price.
How to apply to take part:
We haven’t opened for applications for this market yet! When we do we will share on our newsletter, so I recommend signing up there to be the first to hear.
How to attend:
The Sample Sale is free to enter, and you don’t need a ticket! Just show up on the day. We expect queues so you might like to come early if you’re looking for something specific. If you prefer to shop when it’s less busy we’d recommend coming after 3pm. The nearest station is Gipsy Hill. You can also get there via bus from Brixton or Crystal Palace. The address is 160 Hamilton Rd, Norwood, London SE27 9SF.
Is the market inside?
Yes, the market is inside. The Taproom is also inside where there is some seating, a bar, and bathrooms. If we have to implement a queue you will likely need to queue outside the venue so you may like to bring an umbrella.
Will the event be busy?
Yes we are expecting the market to be busy and bustling. If you prefer a quieter browse this may not be the market for you. Or you may like to come towards the end of the day after 3pm when it’s usually less busy. If you are a wheelchair user and need help or more info about accessing the event please do get in touch so we can make sure you are comfortable and accommodated.
Is the venue dog friendly? Is it buggy friendly? Is it wheelchair friendly?
Dogs are allowed at the venue, but as we’re expecting it to be very busy so it might be best to keep them outside the sample sale room. The venue does allow children but again, as it’s a working taproom that’s busy and bustling it may not be the best one for kids. We’d suggest that buggies stay outside of the market. If you are a wheelchair user and would like more info about accessing the event please do get in touch so we can make sure you are comfortable and accommodated; the market has step-free access.
Is there food and drink at the market?
The Taproom has an inside bar which serves a range of craft beers and soft drinks. On site there will be a coffee truck. There will be a bakery stall. There will also be hot food available at the market including three street food trucks which are organised by KERB.
These will either include allergens or be prepared in an environment alongside allergens, so if you have a specific allergy please speak to the food or drink provider before you consume anything.

We will do our best to share accurate information, and have asked traders to make sure every product is discounted in some way. We usually expect this to be anywhere from 10% off - 60% off the original RRP but you may like to check with traders for specific info.
